Creating the new home for energy efficiency in Europe. IEA 7th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency
This conference brought together decision-makers from government, industry and civil society to focus on how international ambition for energy efficiency can be translated into faster and stronger real-world progress. It comes at a crucial moment as governments ramp up ambition on climate change while tackling the new energy shocks of the 21st century.
The conference focussed on early implementation, both to keep on track for the global path to net zero and to tackle the immediate and pressing energy security and market pressures. It will build on IEA’s recent work on how to reduce energy import dependence while strengthening progress towards net zero imperatives.
How did we support this conference:
1. Accommodation housing bureau for multiple hotels in the Sønderborg area (housing approx 400 attendees)
Using our advance registration system, we loaded accommodation blocks and added attrition and wash dates to ensure we were always one step ahead of reduction and cancellation dates.
Working with the local hotels on rooming lists and payment structures.
2. Venue management at the newly opened Sergenten Conference Centre
Working with the production team, we supported the logistical event management of the venue from cloakroom, setup and food and beverage logistics.
3. Gala dinner at the historic Sønderborg Castle
Dating back to 1158, it was our privilege to support the invitation-only gala dinner at Sønderborg Castle. Ministers and dignitaries from around the world convened for an evening of top-quality cuisine and conversations on energy efficiency. Rounded out by the local chorus of trumpeters, who added a feeling of regality to the event.
4. Ministerial meetings management
After the main conference ended we flipped the 350-person plenary into a bespoke square table setup for a closed ministerial meeting. We love the challenge of a quick turnaround!
